GRANTING A VARIANCE FROM SECTION
14.40.145 OF THE BUFFALO GROVE SIGN ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the
Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, Landis & Staefa, Inc., owner of the hereinafter legally described real
property commonly known as 1000 Deerfield Parkway, Buffalo Grove, Illinois, have
requested a variation from Section 14.40.145 of the Buffalo Grove Sign Ordinance relative to
the requirement of not allowing off - premise signs; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has held a public hearing, received
testimony, prepared minutes, made certain findings, and has made an affirmative recommen-
dation on said request for variation; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Buffalo Grove hereby
determine and find that said variation is in harmony with the general purpose and intent of
the Sign Ordinance, and that (1) the proposed signage is of particularly good design and in
particularly good taste; and (2) the entire site has been or will be particularly well -land-
scaped;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, as follows:
Section 1. The preceding WHEREAS clauses are hereby adopted by the Corporate
Authorities.
Section 2. A variation is hereby granted to Section 14.40.145 of the Village Zoning
Ordinance to the following legally described real property:
Lot 1 in Barclay Station, being a subdivision of part of the southwest 1/4 of
Section 26, the southeast 1/4 of Section 27, the northeast 1/4 of Section 34 and
the northwest 1/4 of Section 35, all in Township 43 North, Range 11, East of
the Third Principal Meridian, according to the plat thereof recorded September
29, 1992, as Document No. 3218854, in Buffalo Grove, in Lake County,
Illinois.
The specific variation is to permit the installation of an off - premise directional sign at
the driveway on Barclay Boulevard, east of the Landis & Staefa property on Deerfield
Parkway. The existing sign is to be removed and replaced by the new sign in accordance
with the exhibits submitted by the petitioner.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval.
This Ordinance shall not be codified.
