1996-062o e ORDINANCE NO. 96 -62 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 16, DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE, AND CHAPTER 12.08 OF THE BUFFALO GROVE MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS, Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule unit pursuant to the Illinois Constitution of 1970, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS; Section 1. Section 16.50.080.A.2.a. and b., of the Village of Buffalo Grove Municipal Code, is amended to read as follows: 2. Driveway Aprons (Exhibit No. 503) a. The work performed under these standards shall consist of the construction of Portland Cement driveway aprons and service walks (concrete paving or concrete bricks) as described herein. The driveway apron, by definition, shall be that portion of the driveway located between the sidewalk and the street. The service walk, by definition, shall be that sidewalk located perpendicular to the public walk, or right -of -way line in the absence of a public walk, and the street and shall be located a minimum of three(3) feet from a driveway apron. b. Residential driveway aprons shall have a minimum width of ten (10) feet; a maximum width of eighteen (18) feet for one -car and two -car driveways and twenty -seven (27) feet for three -car or greater driveways, measured at the D �J sidewalk, and a width three (3) feet greater at the curb. Service walks shall be thirty -six (36) inches wide. All residential aprons shall have a minimum concrete thickness of six (6) inches and a granular base of five (5) inches minimum compacted thickness or concrete paving brick (conforming to ASTM C -936) with a minimum thickness of 3 1/8" on a granular base of twelve (12) inches minimum compacted thickness. Business, office and research, and industrial district driveway aprons shall have a width equal to that of the driveway at the property line, but which width shall not exceed the maximum allowable drive -way width established in the Village's Zoning Ordinance. The driveway apron shall be constructed with ten (10) foot radius returns unless otherwise approved by the Village Engineer. Section 2. Section 12.08.040 of the Village of Buffalo Grove Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 12.08.040 Maintenance. A. Every person maintaining any driveway apron in the Village shall keep the same in good condition and repair. B. In the event that a concrete brick paver apron is removed by the Village in the course of repairs or maintenance to the public street or utilities, the owner of the property shall replace said paver apron within ten (10) days of notification by the Village o • that the street or utility work is complete. If said paver replacement is not performed by the owner of the property within said ten -day period, the Village may exercise its right to install a concrete apron pursuant to the standards of the Village Development Ordinance. Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication. This Ordinance may be published in pamphlet form. Section 1 of this Ordinance shall not be codified.
