AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A VARIATION TO THE DEVELOPMENT
ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE,
COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS

WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit by virtue of the Illinois
Constitution of 1970; and,
WHEREAS, the hereinafter legally described real property is zoned in the R -5A One
Family Dwelling District; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. E. Jerina, owners of the Property, have requested a
variation of Section 16.50.080.A.2. of the Buffalo Grove Development Ordinance to allow
construction of a driveway apron with brick pavers instead of Portland Cement concrete;
and,
WHEREAS, notice of the public hearing concerning the request for a variation was
given and the public hearing was held by the Buffalo Grove Plan Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission recommended approval of said variation; and,
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees after due and careful
consideration have concluded that the variation to allow construction of the driveway apron
with brick pavers would not be detrimental to the Village or properties adjacent to the
Property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS:

Section 1. This Ordinance is made pursuant to and in accordance with the Village's
Development Ordinance and the Village's Home Rule powers. The preceding whereas
clauses are hereby made a part of this Ordinance.
Section 2. The Corporate Authorities hereby adopt a proper, valid and binding
ordinance approving a variation of Section 16.50.080.A.2. of the Development Ordinance
to allow a driveway apron constructed with brick pavers for the following legally described
property:
Lot 186 of Cambridge Countryside Unit Five, being a subdivision in the North
One Half of Section 9, Township 42 North, Range 11 East of the Third
Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois; Permanent Index Number 03 -09-
214 -019; also known as 269 Palmgren Court, Buffalo Grove, IL.
Section 3. The variation of the Development Ordinance is subject to the following
conditions:
a. The apron shall be constructed with concrete brick pavers, minimum
3.1" thickness, conforming to ASTM C -936 (8500 PSI compressive
strength), placed on 9" minimum thickness crushed stone base, CA -6,
grade 9 conforming to ASTM C -33, construction on a properly
prepared subgrade as approved by the Village.
b. The design, color and shape of the brick pavers is subject to Village
approval to ensure aesthetic compatibility with adjacent properties.
No inscriptions shall be allowed on said paver apron.
C. In the event that the paver apron is removed by the Village in the
course of repairs or maintenance to the public street or utilities, owner
of the Property shall replace said paver apron within ten (10) days of
notification by the Village that the street or utility work is complete.

If said paver replacement is not performed by the owner of the
Property within said ten -day period, the Village may exercise its right
to install a concrete apron pursuant to the standards of the Village
Development Ordinance.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and after its passage
and approval. This Ordinance shall not be codified.
