1989-087ORDINANCE NO. 89- 87 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5.09 RAFFLES WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the Illinois Constitution of 1970. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 5.09.020 of the Village of Buffalo Grove Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 5.09.020 - License Required: No person, firm or corporation shall conduct a raffle within the corporate limits of the Village without first having obtained a license from the Village. Such license is valid for only two raffles during a calendar year except that a charitable raffle, complying with the requirements of Section 5.09.050.B., shall be valid for fifty -two (52) weekly raffles during a calendar year. Section 2. Section 5.09.050 of the Village of Buffalo Grove Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 5.09.050 - Licensing Conditions and Limitations: A. Except as set forth in subsection B. hereof, all Raffles are subject to the following conditions and limitations: 1. The maximum cash price awarded in any raffle shall be $5,000.00. 2. The maximum retail value of a non -cash prize awarded in raffle shall be $25,000. 3. The aggregate retail value of all prizes awarded in any raffle shall not exceed $30,000. 4. The maximum which may be charged for each raffle chance issued or sold is $100. 5. The maximum number of days during which chances may be issued is 90. B. A fifty -two week charitable raffle license is subject to the following conditions and limitations: 1. The maximum cash prize awarded in any raffle shall be $200.00. 2. The maximum retail value of a non -cash prize awarded in a raffle shall be $200.00. 3. The aggregate retail value of all prizes awarded in any raffle shall not exceed $200.00. 4. The maximum which may be charged for each raffle chance issued or sold is $1.00. Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication. This ordinance may be published in pamphlet form.
