ORDINANCE NO. 84- 3
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.28 OF THE
VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE MUNICIPAL CODE
(BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS)
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit by virtue of
the provisions of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF
BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2.28.060, Snb- Paragraph A, of Chapter 2.28 of
the Village of Buffalo Grove Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
2.28.060 Preference. A. The board of fire and police commissioners
shall give two preference points for original appointment to persons who were
engaged in the military or naval services of the United States for a period of
at least one year and who were honorably discharged therefrom or who are now or
who may hereafter be on inactive or reserve duty in such military or naval ser-
vices. However, no person will be eligible for employment in the police depart-
ment, if such person was convicted by court - martial of disobedience of orders if
such disobedience consisted of the refusal to perform military service on the
grounds of religious or conscientious objection against war. Two preference:,points
for original appointment shall also be given to persons who have served at least
two years as general service officers of the police department or regular paid -on-
call members of the fire department, and who are presently employed or who have
been so employed no longer than two years prior to the final date of application
for examination as established by the board.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its passage and approval.
