1983-040• ORDINANCE NO. 83 - 40 • . I AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6 OF THE BUFFALO GROVE MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING DOMESTIC ANIMALS WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and WHEREAS, the corporate authorities recognize that unrestrained household pets may constitute a nuisance to both neighboring properties and the community at large; and WHEREAS, any animal that attacks or bites any person or domestic animal may represent a threat to the safety of the residents of the Village of Buffalo Grove; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Buffalo Grove, Cook and Lake Counties, Illinois: SECTION l: Title 6, of the Village of Buffalo Grove Municipal Code, as amended, is hereby amended by adding Sub Section C to Section 6.12.070, which shall read as follows: C. It is unlawful for any dog, cat or other domestic animal to enter upon the property of another without the consent of the property owner. Members of the Police Department or the Animal Control Officer may impound any animal that is found in violation of this section. SECTION 2: Title 6, of the Village of Buffalo Grove Municipal Code, as amended, is hereby amended changing subsection 6.12.120 to read: 0 • 6.12.120 Vicious Animals. A. No•owner shall permit any vicious animal to be on any street, alley or other public place within the Village or upon the private premises of any person other than the owner of such animal, unless such animal is securely muzzled or caged. Vicious animals on the premises of the owner shall be restrained so that they cannot attack persons lawfully on the premises, and the premises shall be maintained so that children cannot gain access thereto. Any dog, cat or other animal that attacksor bites any person or domestic animal or is adjudged by the police officer or animal control officer at the scene to be in violation of this section may be impounded. SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication. This ordinance may be published in pamphlet form.
