1983-022�0 ORDINANCE NO. 83-22 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 9 OF THE BUFFALO GROVE CODE PROHIBITING TRUANCY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO ILLINOIS: SECTION 1. PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, Title 9, Chapter VII of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Buffalo Grove is hereby amended by adding thereto Section 9.70.010 and 9.70.020 which shall prohibit truancy and shall read as follows: Section 9.70.010 Truancy Prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of 18 enrolled in a public, private or parochial school within the corporate limits of the Village of Buffalo Grove to absent himself or herself from attendance at school without notification of parental permission to the proper school authority. Any person who shall so absent himself or herself shall be guilty of the offense of truancy and be subject to the penalties hereinafter set forth in this chapter. Emergency or unforeseen absences due to illness or other causes beyond the control of the person so absenting himself or herself from school without parental permission shall not constitute truancy if permission for such absence has substantially been obtained from the parent and notification of such permission is made to the proper school authorities within 24 hours after such absence. Section 9.70.20 Violation -- Penalty. Any person violating the provisions of this Chapter shall be punished as provided in Section 1.08.010. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
