1982-042Q Q ORDINANCE NO. 82- 42 PARTICIPATION UNDER THE ILLINOIS FIRE PROTECTION TRAINING ACT WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to Illinois Constitution of 1970; and WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is desirous of elect- ing to participate in the programs under the Illinois Fire Pro- tection Training Act, Public Act 77 -1665 (Chapter 85, Section 531, etc. of Illinois Revised Statutes) as amended; and WHEREAS, in order for the Village to be eligible for initial or continued participation in the programs, the law requires that before an individual may commence regular employment as a fire- fighter, he must have been certified by the State Fire Marshal as having successfully completed an approved Firefighter II training course; and WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove intends to establish its own school or to utilize some other school certified by the State Fire Marshal for the purpose of providing the training required under said Act: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT and BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK and LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1. The Village of Buffalo Grove hereby elects to parti- cipate in the programs provided for in the Illinois Fire Protection Training Act. Section 2. Before an individual may commence regular full -time employment as a firefighter, he must have been certified by the Illinois State Fire Marshal as a Firefighter II and EMT -P (Paramedic), as having successfully completed an approved training course as pro- vided in said Act. Section 3. The Firefighter II and EMT -P (Paramedic) training must be completed by the individual on the date of employment by the Vil- lage. k 0 -2- 0 Section 4. The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are here- by instructed and directed to make the necessary amendments to their Rules and Regulations in order to require that any person appointed to the Fire Department of the Village shall not become a full -time member of the Fire Department unless and until he shall complete, pursuant to said Illinois Fire Protection and Training Act, the approved training course. Section 5. This ordinance shall not be codified in the Municipal Code of Buffalo Grove. Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
