ORDINANCE NO. 80 - Via.
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ADVANCE PAYMENT OF SOCIAL
SECURITY AND IMRF DEPOSITS
WHEREAS, the Social Security Administration, effective July 1,
1980, will require states to deposit social security taxes within 15
days after the end of the first two months of each quarter and 45 days
after the third month of each quarter; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove through participation in
the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund will be required to submit its
monthly deposits for social security taxes to conform with the new
mandate; and
WHEREAS, local fiscal restrictions as to approval of warrants and
drafts will have to be overridden to facilitate this change in the Federal
Social Security Act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND.BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, ILLINOIS, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS,
the following:
SECTION 1. The Director of Finance and General Services is hereby
authorized due to his responsibility for the preparation of wage and salary
reporting and as authorized representative of the Village to the Illinois
Municipal Retirement Fund will remit on a timely basis the appropriate wage
reports and payments to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund to conform to
changes in Social Security Enabling Act of the State of Illinois (Chapter 1082j
21- 121.1).
SECTION 2. The payments will be made without advance approval by
the Corporate Authorities. The disbursement shall be entered upon the next
applicable Village accounts payable warrant for approval by the Corporate
Authorities.
SECTION 3. The Village President and Village Manager will approve
through signature as the appropriate corporate officers authorizing payment
of the check to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
SECTION 4. The Director of Finance and General Services will be
accountable and liable for any and all reporting errors relative to the
intent of this Ordinance.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage in the manner provided by law.
