1979-030ORDINANCE NO. 79 -30 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15.05, ANTI-BURGLARY SECURITY CODE, OF THE BUFFALO GROVE MUNICIPAL CODE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1. Paragraphs A., C., Section 15.05.30 of the Buffalo Grove Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 15.05.30 - DEFINITIONS A. Bu�lar Resistant Glazing Material: should be glazed minimum of 1'/2" tempered insulated glass. C. Deadbolt: A bolt which has no automatic spring action and which is operated by a key cylinder, thumb turn, or lever, and is positively held fast when in the projected position. SECTION 2. Paragraphs A.1, A.4, B., of Section 15.05.110 of the Buffalo Grove Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 15.05.110 - PRIVATE DWELLING - MINIMUM STANDARDS A. Exterior Doors 1. Exterior doors and doors leading from garage area into private family dwellings shall be either of solid core wood having a minimum thickness of 1 3/4" or metal clad flush. or embossed doors with a minimum thickness around the perimeter of 1 3/4 ". 4. Exterior doors swinging out shall have non - removable hinge pins, and /or steel dowels pro- jecting a minimum of 1/2 inch into each hinge plate, and /or swedged hinges. B. Accessible Sliding Patio Type Doors 1. All single sliding patio doors shall have the movable section of the door sliding on the inside of the fixed portion of the door, unless specifically manufactured to be installed with movable section of the door on the outside. 2. Deadbolt locks shall be provided on all single sliding patio doors. The lock shall be operable from the outside by a key, utilizing a bored key cylinder with not less than five pin tumbler construction. Mounting screws for the lock shall be inaccessible from the outside. SECTION 3. Paragraphs C.1, C.2, C.6, and D. of Section 15.05.120 of the Buffalo Grove Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows: C. Entrance Doors to Individual Units 1. Entrance doors to individual units shall be either of solid core wood having a minimum thickness of 1 3/4" or metal clad flush or embossed doors with a minimum thickness around the perimeter of 1 3/4 ". 2. Swinging entrance doors to individual units shall be equipped with a keyed lockset with a dead latch and a separate deadbolt with a 1 inch throw. Deadbolts shall be located a minimum of 6 inches from the lockset. 6. Doors swinging out shall have non - removable hinge pins and /or steel dowels projecting a minimum of 1/2 inch into each hinge plate and /or swedged hinges. D. Accessible Sliding Patio Tyne Doors 1. All single patio doors shall have the movable section of the door sliding on the inside of -2- 6 • D.1 Continued: the fixed portion of the door, unless specifically manufactured to be installed with movable section of the door on the outside. 2.
