1976-055-7(o ORDINANCE N0.' 55 AN ORDINANCE LICENSING AND REGULATING THE INSTALLATION OF WATER SOFTENERS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS: Section 1. All persons engaged in the business of selling, servicing or installing water softeners shall obtain a license from the Village of Buffalo Grove for such activity. The fee for such license shall be twenty five ($25.00) per year. A surety bond in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000) to insure faithful perfor- mance and compliance with the ordinances of the Village of Buffalo Grove shall be required at the time of the issuance of such license under the provisions of Ordinance No. 0- 61 -26. Section 2. It shall be unlawful bo install, alter or replace any water softener without first having secured a permit therefor. Application for permits shall be made to the Building Commissioner. OiMinance No. 0- 63 -52, Section 1, is hereby amended and the fee for such water softener permit shall be $10.00. The fee shall be paid at the time of issuance of the permit. Section 3. The following regulations shall apply to all water softeners installed in the Village of Buffalo Grove: a. The waste line from any water softener shall not be connected directly to any sewer, soil, waste or vent line; b. All water softeners shall be installed with a trapped outlet with an open site connection from the softener; C. Every softener shall have a valved bypass on the water supply so that the failure of the water softener will not interfere with water service to the building. All work shall comply to the pro- visions of the National Electrical Code. d. All softeners shall be installed with unions or flare disconnect types of water connections to allow ease of disconnection of the softener and servicing equipment. Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating the pro- visions of this ordinance shall be fined not less than $10.00 nor more than $500.00. Each day the violation continues shall constitute a separate offense; Section 3.
