COIN OPERATED AMUSEMENT DEVICES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE
OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1. Definition. The term "coin operated amusement devices"
includes any and all instruments, games, machines, equipment, and other
devices (but excepting pool tables) the operation of which is /are governed
or controlled by the insertion of or deposit of a coin or token, but
excluding all vending machines dispensing merchandise.
SECTION 11. Place of Operation. No coin operated amusement device /s
shall be placed, installed, kept, permitted or operated in a mercantile
establishment, including but not limited to, grocery stores, drug stores,
meat markets, hardware stores, department stores, offices, ice cream parlors,
clothing stores, taverns, restaurants, drive -ins, or any combination thereof.
Nor shall any such device be placed, installed, kept, permitted or operated
outside of any building.
SECTION III. License Required. No person, firm or corporation shall
keep, install, maintain, operate or permit any of the aforesaid devices in
any building or place within the Village for use by the public without first
having obtained a license for each such device.
SECTION IV. Application for License. Any person, firm or corporation
desiring a license /s shall make application therefor to the Village Clerk.
The application shall set forth the names and addresses of the applicant, the
owners of the machine /s and the address of the building where such device /s
will be located, maintained and operated, and the charge to be made to the
customer for such operation.
SECTION V. Number of Devices Permitted. No more than three (3) coin
operated amusement devices shall be permitted in any one business establish-
ment.
SECTION VI. Fee. The applicant shall pay an annual fee of $20.00
for each such device. Said fee shall be payable on issuance of license /s
and annually thereafter.
SECTION VII. License Emblems. Upon payment of license fee /s the
Village Clerk shall deliver a sticker license emblem bearing appropriate
words and date of issuance. It shall be the duty of the licensee to affix
the emblem on the device in a conspicuous place. It shall be unlawful to
mutilate or remove such emblem from the device during the year for which
the device is licensed.
SECTION VIII. Penalty. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
provision of this ordinance shall be fined not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00)
nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for each offense. A separate
offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation
continues.
SECTION IX. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval and publication according to law. The Clerk
may publish this ordinance in pamphlet form.
