AN ORDINANCE CREATING A COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION
WHEREAS, due to growing needs of the Village of Buffalo Grove during
the past several years and the increased need for a Community Services Commission
to act as a community sponsored coordinator,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE
OF BUFFALO GROVE, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created a Community Services Commission
for the Village of Buffalo Grove.
SECTION 2. The Community Services Commission of the Village shall
consist of seven 7 members appointed by the Village President by and with the
consent of the Village Board. Terms of appointment shall be for a period of
three years with appointments staggered throughout the years. No more than
two (2) members shall be appointed in any one year unless required by death or
resignation of one or more members. One member of the Village Board shall act
as an ex- officio member of the Community Services Commission. All members shall
be residents of the Village and shall serve without compensation.
SECTION 3. One member of the Community Services Commission shall be
elected annually by its members to act as Chairman. It shall be his duty to
conduct the meetings. Other officers shall consist of a Vice - Chairman and
Secretary. The Chairman shall appoint the Vice- Chairman and the Secretary
with the consent of the members. The Community Services Commission shall meet
monthly and shall keep a written record of all minutes of the meetings and a
copy of all minutes of the meetings shall be sent to the Village President and
members of the Village-.Board.---A majority of the members of the Commission shall
constitute a quorum thereof, and any recommendations adopted by the majority
thereof shall be as.valid and - effective as - -if adopted by all its members.
SECTION 4. The - Commun-i try Services Commission--shall:
a. increase public awareness of facilities and services available
to Buffalo Grove citizens,
b. research and then make recommendations -from -time to time to the
Board of Trustees relating to needs in the community,
c. coordinate_ specific programs with other service organizations
in the Village,
d. consult and cooperate with all agencies of the Village of Buffalo
Grove and other municipalities concerned with community service,
e. exercise such other powers and duties prescribed by the
President and Board of Trustees.
SECTION 5. No expenditures shall be made without prior approval of
the President and Board of Trustees.
SECTION 6. The Commission may adopt By -Laws containing procedural
rules and such substantive regulations as it deems necessary to accomplish the

purposes of this Ordinance.
SECTION 7. Notwithstanding anything contained.herein to the contrary,
the President and Board of Trustees may by ordinance, at any time hereafter,
dissolve the Community Services Commission.

SECTION 8. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval according to law.
