1971-024ORDINANCE NO. 71-21 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 61 -26 (PLUMING ORDINANCE) AS AMENDED. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS. SECTION A. Amendment. Ordinance No. 61 -26 (Plumbing Ordinance) is hereby amended by addition of the following Sections to Article IX: SECTION 2. OVERHEAD PLUMING - All new buildings with basements, floors, rooms or occupancy areas below ground level at the building site and served by a public or a private sewer system shall have overhead plumbing. SECTION 3. SEPARATE SEWER AREAS - In areas served by separate sewer systems, the following requirements shall apply: (a) Down Spouts - All down spouts shall be dis- charged onto the ground. No down spouts or roof drains shall be connected to the sanitary sewers. (b) Footing Drains - Footing drains shall be connected to sump pumps and discharge shall be made into storm sewers or drainage ditches. No footing drains or drainage tile shall be connected to the sanitary sewer. (c) Floor Drains - Floor drains in basements shall be connected to the sump pumps and discharged to the sanitary sewers. (d) Swap Pump - Sump pumps installed to receive and discharge ground waters or other storm waters shall be connected to the storm sewer or dis- charged into drainage ditches. Sump pumps in- stalled to receive and discharge floor drain flow or other sanitary sewage shall be connected to the sanitary sewers. A sump pump shall be used for one function only, either the discharge of storm waters or the discharge of sanitary sewage. (e) Completion of Storm Sewer System - The construction of the proposed storm sewer system shall be com- pleted before the sanitary sewer system is put in service. SECTION B. . z . . The Penalty for non- compliance of this ordinance shall be the same as provided in Article X of the Plumbing Ordinance (Ordinance Number 0- 61 -26). SECTION D.
