WATER CONTROL ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. Wasting Water. Should the Director of
Public Works find reasonable cause to believe that there is
an unreasonable or unnecessary waste of water in any building,
structure or premises to which water is supplied from the
Village waterworks system, through or by means of a leak in any
water pipe located in any such building, structure or in or on
any such premises, the Director of Public Works shall cause
the water supply to be cut off from such building, structure
or premises unless such waste shall be stopped or shall
cease within twenty =four hours after he shall have given
notice to the owner, occupant or person in possession, charge
or control of such building, structure or premises to stop
such waste. In those cases where the water supply is cut off
from any building, structure or premises, the water supply
shall not again.be turned on until a minimum fee as provided
in the water rate ordinance is paid.
Section 2. Watering of Lawns and Outside Flowers,
Filling of Swimming Pools, etc. (Sprinklinq). The use of
a hose or sprinkling system to water outside lawns, flowers,
shrubs, bushes and gardens and the filling of swimming pools

shall be limited as follows:
(a) There shall be no watering (sprinkling) on Fridays
to allow reservoirs to recover and maintain pressure.
(b) Owners, occupants, or persons in possession, charge
or control of buildings, structures or premises on
odd numbered side of streets or bearing odd numbers
shall only water (sprinkle) on Monday, Wednesday
and Saturday.

(c) Owners, occupants, or persons in possession,
charge or control of buildings, structures or
premises on even numbered side of streets or
bearing even numbers shall only water (sprinkle)
on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Section 3. Penalty. Any person, firm or corporation
violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be
fined not less than $10.00, or more than $500.00 for each
offense; each day the violation continues shall be con-
sidered a separate offense.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be
in full force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publications according to law.
