1968-049ORDINANCE No. 68 -49 VEHICLE LICENSES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, ILLINOIS SECTION 1: Whenever the term "motor vehicle" is used in this Ordinance it shall be construed to include, motor cycles, motor scooters, motor driven cycles, autos, trucks and all vehicles propelled by power, other than muscular power. SECTION 2: Every owner or operator of a motor vehicle residing in the Village or having his principle place of business in the Village shall not use or cause or permit any of his agents or employees to use any motor vehicle upon the public ways of the Village unless a license is obtained therefor. The license fees to be paid shall be as follows: (a) All passenger vehicles, $5.00 annually; $3.00 semi - annually. (b) All trucks, 5500 lbs or less (empty weight) , $7.50 annually, $4.00 semi - annually; all trucks in excess of 5500 lbs (empty weight) $15.00 annually; $8.00 semi - annually. (c) All motor cycles, motor bikes, motor scootersand motor driven cycles $2.50 annually regardless of when application is made for license. (d) Purchase price of sticker may be applied as credit toward purchase of subsequent higher price sticker prior to March 31st of given sticker year provided proper proof is shown as to disposal of vehicle and fufther provided the $1.00 transfer fee shall also be paid. (e) Purchase price of sticker may be applied on purchase price of subsequent lower price sticker prior to March 31st of given sticker year provided proper proof is shown as to disposal of vehicle. There shall be no refunds of the excess and the $1.00 transfer fee shall be paid. (f) Fees are due and payable on or before January 1 of each year, except in case of a transfer which fee shall be due and payable not more than 30 days after the transfer. All licenses expire December 31. • Owners who have nctpaid license fees for previous years shall not be entitled to a license for the year applied for until license fees for previous years have been paid. Owner or operator coming in to possession of a vehicle after February l shall pay the fee within thirty (30) days after acquisition. If possession is not acquired until after July 1 only a semi - annual fee shall be paid as shown. SECTION 3: Each owner or operator of ak,.motor vehicle required herein to obtain a license shall file an application with the clerk, upon a form provided by the clerk, stating the name and address of applicant and a description of the motor: .-vehicle for which a license is desired. Such application shall be made and such fee shall be paid on or before the first day of January of each year, and such license shall be for the calendar year. Licenses for the coming year may be issued on or after December 1st of each preceding year. SECTION 4: Each such owner receiving a license shall receive a vehicle sticker, which sticker shall be attached to the vehicle in the lower left -hand corner of the front windshield so as to be easily readable at all times during which such vehicle is on the public streets of the Village. SECTION 5: Ordinances numbers 58 -24, 60 -10, 61 -24, 61 -28, 64 -20, 65 -5, and 66 -26 are hereby repealed. SECTION 6: Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this Ordinance shall be fined not less than $5.00 nor more than $500.00 for each offense, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues. SECTION 7: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. AYES: 5 NAYES: 1 ABSENT: None Passed December 2, 1968.
