ORDINANCE REGULATING THE INSPECTION, CARE AND
MAINTENANCE OF FIRE.. HYDRANTS WITHIN THE VILLAGE
OF BUFFALO GROVE, ILLINOIS.
BE IT ORAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO
GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS.
SECTION 1.
It shall be the duty of the Fire Marshal in
charge of the Bureau of Fire Prevention to cause an I inspection and
tests to be made of all fire hydrants within the Village at least
once every six months. In case such inspection discloses any de-
fective condition which would or does handicap the operation of any
hydrant, the Fire Marshal shall, by registered mail or personal
delivery, give immediate written notice to the Utility Company or
private firm or corporation that owns, operates or controls the
fire hydrant. The defective conditions shall be corrected within
forty -eight (48) hours after the receipt of such notice.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to obstruct the use of any fire hydrant or have or
place any material in front thereof or within fifteen (15) feet
from any side thereof; any and all materials found to be such an
obstruction or so placed may be immediately removed by any member
of the Police or Fire Department and at the risk, cost and expense
of the owner or claimant,
SECTION 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
provision hereof or failing to cornly ;ith Lny ac: required herein
shall be punished by a fine of nct less than $5.00 nor more than
$500.00. Each day such violation continues shall constitute a
separate offense.

SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and publication
according to law.
