SUBJECT: Repeal of Ordinance #61 -3 and Sections 9, 10,
and 12 of Ordinance #63 -5
The Illinois Revised Statutes adequately cover the pro-
visions of Ordinance #61 -3. The Police Department enforces the
state statute in regards to curfew, which allows youth an addi-
tional 1/2 hour over the provisions of Ordinance #61 -3.
Sections 9, 10, and 12 of Ordinance #63 -5 are also ade-
quately covered by Illinois State Statutes which cover the sale
of tobacco. The State Statutes are enforced by the Police De-
partment. Further, the provision against minors smoking in
public (Section 12) has been struck down by the Court.
