GRANTING VARIATIONS FROM CERTAIN SECTIONS
OF THE BUFFALO GROVE SIGN CODE
Harris Bank, 500 Half Day Road
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the Illinois
Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, request has been made by Icon Identity Solutions, 1418 Elmhurst Road, Elk
Grove Village, Illinois on behalf of Harris Bank, 500 Half Day Road, the owner of the
hereinafter legally described real property commonly known as 500 Half Day Road, for variance
of Sign Code, Section 14.20.030, pertaining to Business Districts; and Section 14.20.080,
pertaining to Wall Signs, for the purpose of allowing three (3) additional wall signs that do not
face the public right -of -way.
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has held a public hearing, received
testimony, prepared minutes, made certain findings, and has made an affirmative recommen-
dation on the said request for variations; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Buffalo Grove hereby
determine and find that said variations are in harmony with the general purpose and intent of
the Sign Ordinance, and that (1) the requirements of the Sign Code would cause undue and
unnecessary hardship to the sign user because of unique or unusual conditions pertaining to the
property, (2) the granting of the requested variances will not be materially detrimental to the
property owners in the vicinity, (3) the unusual conditions applying to the specific property do
not apply generally to other properties in the Village, and (4) the granting of the variances will
not be contrary to the general objective of the Sign Code of moderating the size, number and
obtrusive placement of signs and the reduction of clutter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, as follows:
Section 1. The preceding WHEREAS clauses are hereby adopted by the Corporate
Authorities and made a part hereof.

Section 2. Variations are hereby granted to Sections 14.20.030 and 14.20.080 of the
Village Municipal Code to the Property legally described as follows:
Parcel "A" of Lot 3 of Woodland Commons Shopping and Commerce Center, being a
Subdivision of part of the South half of the southeast quarter of Section 17 and the north
half of the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter of Section 20, and the west half of
the northwest quarter of Section 21, all in Township 43 north, Range 11, east of the Third
Principal Meridian according to the Plat thereof recorded July 5, 1990 as Document
2921830, in Lake County, Illinois.
for the purpose of allowing an two (2) additional wall signs on the building at 500 Half Day
Road that do not face the public right -of -way.
Section 3. The variations are subject to the following conditions:
A. Sign #4 as shown on Zoning Board of Appeals Exhibit "E2" shal l be replaced with
the same size sign as the existing sign.
B. Sign #8 as shown on Exhibit "E 3" to be replaced with the same size sign as the
existing sign.
C. In all other respects the signs to be installed shall be in accordance with the exhibits
submitted with the application for variations.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval.
This Ordinance shall not be codified.

2008 and continuing for at least ten days thereafter.
Copies of such Ordinance were also available for
public inspection upon request in the Office of
Village Clerk.
