2000-012ORDINANCE NO. 2000 - 12 GRANTING VARIANCES FROM SECTIONS 14.20.030, 14.20.070 AND 14.20.080 OF THE BUFFALO GROVE SIGN CODE WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and WHEREAS, the Petitioner, Walgreens, has requested variations for the hereinafter legally described real property, commonly known as Plaza Verde Shopping Center, Buffalo Grove, Illinois, from Sections 14.20.030., 14.20.070 and 14.20.080 of the Buffalo Grove Sign Code, for the purpose of installing a ground sign and various wall signs; and, WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has held a public hearing, received testimony, prepared minutes, made certain findings, and has made an affirmative recommendation on said request for variation; and WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Buffalo Grove hereby determine and find that said variation is in harmony with the general purpose and intent of the Zoning Ordinance, and 1) not allowing the variance will cause undue and unnecessary hardship due to the Petitioner, 2) granting the requested variance would not be detrimental to the property owners in the vicinity, 3) unusual conditions apply to the specific property that do not apply generally to other properties in the Village, and 4) granting the variance will not be contrary to the general objective of the Sign Code of moderating the size, number and obtrusive placement of signs and the reduction of clutter. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows: Section 1. The preceding WHEREAS clauses are hereby adopted by the Corporate � _ o Authorities. Section 2. Variations are hereby granted to Sections 14.20.030, 14.20.070 and 14.20.080 of the Village Sign Code to the following legally described property: See Exhibit "A ". The specific variations will allow the Petitioner to install a ground sign less than two hundred fifty (250) feet from an existing ground sign on the same side of the street, install an additional wall sign on the north elevation of the building and two (2) wall signs on the west elevation of the building that does not face the public right -of -way. Section 3. The following conditions apply to the variances: The ground sign will not exceed fourteen (14) feet in height and the brick base is to match the building. All signs will be constructed in accordance with Exhibits A and B, the site plan and sign diagrams submitted to the Village. Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval. This Ordinance shall not be codified. AYES: 6 - Marienthal, Reid, Braiman.
